don't tread on me.

wiley wears:

dress: f21
belt: h&m
boater: f21

the dress i bought from f21 turned out to be the perfect one for a weekend at the beach.  i decided to break it out again on sunday and it turned out perfectly for a walk on the beach.  i wanted to hike up the dress up a bit so as not to collect any sand or dirt, so i wore a braided belt low on my waist and bloused the dress over.  another trip out with the boater proved that it is indeed the perfect beachside hat.
i hope that everyone had a lovely memorial day weekend!

new hampshire was amazing.  i breathed so much fresh ocean air that i will be on a high for days.  i read and relaxed and went to bed early; the recipe for complete happiness.  on saturday jeb went out to the water and played around on the sand.  the water was freezing, but after some time in the sun, completely refreshing.  i was so excited to debut my new straw boater and it was the perfect hat for the weekend.  i was ready to jump on a boat and sail away!

on the road again.

just a quick post before jeb and i head off to new hampshire for a beautiful long weekend.   (we are even taking ernst! his very first vaCATion!)  i will have lots of fun posts to put up when i return, but i am off to the land of no cable and no internet.  glorious!
today's outfit was half beach bunny and half grecian city girl.  i love maxi dresses and find they can easily be made appropriate for the office with nice shoes, jewelry and a cardigan.  mine was perfect for transitioning from my walks through the streets of boston by day and a little walk on the sandy shores by night.
enjoy the weekend my loves.
wear sunscreen!

happiest birthday jack.

one day from the beach...

wiley wears:

jacket: gap
tee: yuengling brewery
skirt: uo
belt: uo
t-straps: uo
so this isn't what i wore to work, but rather what i wore out to run errands after work.  i love pairing together graphic tees and feminine skirts.  i rarely wear tshirts, but this is one of my favorites.  i bought it awhile back when i went to the yuengling brewery with jeb and my family.  being from pennsylvania you know i love my lager!  this silk floral skirt was a gift from my younger sister a few years ago and i thought the two went really well together.  and in these beginning stages of summer the jean jacket will be sticking around for a bit.
happy almost weekend!

in my atmosphere.

wiley wears:

top: h&m
skirt: zara
scarf: vintage
painted wedges: vintage
another day in the alley with caroline, of poppy and leo.  this time we opted for a whitewashed brick wall since it seemed to perfectly compliment today's outfit.  this outfit is a play on multiple outfits i have worn in the past few days and weeks.  i have truly been loving tying vintage scarves in my hair this way...a throw-back to that pin-up style i love, and this striped ruffled tee has sure gotten a lot of wear since i bought it a few weeks back.  i thought i would combine some of the looks i do most often; silk scarves, nautical stripes, wedges and a high waist.   to my complete joy, i really loved how it turned out.  i found these painted wedges at a vintage shop in salem with caroline a few months back and could not wait to break them out.  they were definitely the crown jewels of this ensemble.  well my lovelies, we have made it through half the week.  two more days until that glorious long weekend!  i hope everyone has some summertime plans on their vacation weekend schedule.

hot child in the city.

wiley wears:

romper: target
wedges: old navy
on a ninety degree day like today, nothing seemed more appropriate than a soft lightweight romper.  i bought this romper in the early stages of the romper craze and just loved the feminine ruffled details.  believe me, i love rompers.  (understatement of the year.)  they are fun and playful and remind me of something i would throw on for a day spent on the shillington playground, but i find the key to wearing a romper, when over the age of eight, is how you accessorize.  jewelry, belts and shoes are all good ways to remind the public that you are, in fact, an adult.  for example, i try to stay away from flip-flops paired with rompers.  it typically ends up looking messy and thrown together.  instead, i choose sandals with a wedge or heel.   i wore these caged wedges and touches of bright gold jewelry to dress it up and add some sophistication.  with my hair in a tight bun i felt ready for the city heat.

sweet and rough.

wiley wears:

dress: hurley
belt: f21
heels: uo
today was my attempt at mixing a girly dress with some edgier accessories.  jessica, of what i wore, challenged bloggers to mix delicate feminine pieces with some rougher pieces.  i decided on this ruffled hurley sundress and paired it with a black belt with silver grommets and some funky black heels.  the frilly pieces are much more plentiful in my closet, while i rarely wear edgy pieces.  i thought the best way for me to make this challenge a reality was to focus on using accesories to wear the dress differently than i have usually worn it.  i typically wear this dress without a belt so that it is loose and flowy and gives off more of a beachy vibe.  the black belt gave the dress more structure and created a completely different look.

country mouse.

wiley wears:

skirt worn as dress: vintage
belt: anthropologie
sandals: borrowed from paige
sunglasses: rayban
this photoshoot was so much fun.  my mom pulled off a back road in pennsylvania and my sister took these shots. (normal shot taken by jeb.)  paige is one heck of a director.  we thought this last shot was very bella from twilight.  i always love to dress for the occasion, so a trip to my mom's hometown seemed like the perfect opportunity to break out this checkered skirt.  i added the beaded red belt for a pop of color and some easy brown sandals finished off my casual country look.  it is so much fun coming home to pennsylvania and getting out in the fresh air.  pictures from one of my very best friend's wedding will be coming soon.  the night was incredible and the photos are hysterical.  let's just say i caught the bouquet!

cat's meow.

wiley wears:

dress: zara
blazer: old navy
tights: target
belt: f21
t-straps: uo
yes, my friends, this dress is covered in cats with bowties!  pretty much the most amazing thing i have worn in a very long time.  i found the dress at zara and knew that i had to own it.  after a few weeks of walking by the store i finally gave in...and i am so very glad that i did.  the drop-waist and thin material make it perfect for the summer heat.  i know cats in bowties may not be the most appropriate office wear, but i had to wear this to work on thursday to celebrate my upcoming four-day weekend/wedding festivities.  pairing the dress with tights, a belt and blazer made it work for my desk job and right after, worked paired with some sandals and a cardigan. well i'm off.  happy weekend!

alley cat.

wiley wears:

top: h&m
cardigan: f21
khakis: gap
belt: vintage
wedges: jeffrey campbell
another afternoon spent in the alley...for photographs of course.  i think by the end of the summer caroline and i will have done a boston alley tour.  always my favorite place to shoot, there is such a great juxtapostion between a fresh outfit and the, often dilapitated and grafittied walls of alley ways.  today's outfit was a simple combination of a funky printed tank and cardigan.  i love taking shirts that are meant more for evening wear and throwing a cardigan over them for work.  i still have that fabulous 'going-out' feeling and get to feel pretty all day long in something i originally purchased for gorgeous evenings with friends.  with some loose-fitting khakis it gave it a laid back vibe that was much appreciated mid-week.
off to paint my nails and pack so i can be one hundred percent ready to head home to philadelphia tomorrow evening.  so here's to one more day of work and then four glorious days of dancing, laughing and hopefully some back scratches from my mom.

5.18.2010

rainy day florals.

wiley wears:

dress: uo
cardigan: j.crew
belt: vintage
wedges: macy's
i just realized that i have been wearing floral for the last four days.  i think all this spring weather has been drawing me to warm patterns.  today's outfit was perfect for this randomly rainy afternoon.  this bright yellow cardigan always forces a smile onto my face.  off to see a show with jeb tonight!  so off i go!  two more days of work before i am reunited with my family and friends!

5.17.2010

garden variety.

wiley wears:

dress: vintage
belt: gap
jean jacket: gap
flats: jeffrey campbell
another of the fabulous girly pieces i picked up at the market this weekend.  the pastel floral pattern is uber feminine and makes me think of spring gardens.  i always think a small bit of detail can make such a difference and this dress has big white buttons, which are difficult to see in these photos, going down the bottom half of the dress.  my jean jacket was a great way to rough up a really girly dress.  my nude flats, which happen to be the exact shade of my very white skin, were a great way to keep the focus on my dress.

5.16.2010

banksy boston

wiley wears:

dress: vintage from bobby of boston
belt: f21
sandals: rainbow
a combination of two incredible things; this piece of banksy street art and this beautiful 1960's print dress.  banksy is a british street artist who has recently done two pieces in boston.  so exciting that he has made his presence known so close by.  the piece jeb and i took a walk to see today is located in central square and it was pretty amazing to be able to get a close up look.  i thought it would be great to get my photos shot right in front, although we had to stop quite a few times since other people were also trying to take in the sight.
this dress, oh this dress.  i found this at sowa yesterday, at bobby of boston.  i love the bright floral patterns and was thinking about shortening up the length a bit, but after wearing the dress all day i am pretty much in love with the flowy length.  i saw this dress and immediately thought of my younger sister.  the colors and fit make me think of her free-spirit style.  but sorry, peach, too in love to pass this one along.  maybe next time.  the neckline of the dress is perfect, and the top just happened to fit me perfectly.  this dress will be out and about a lot this summer.  i can already picture walking along the beach in new hampshire this summer decked out in this number.
well my loves, this is just about the time when i try to deal with the fact that i have go to work tomorrow morning.  luckily, i have a four day week followed by the wedding of  one of my very best friends.  growing up...i think it's happening.
cannot wait to see the five girls who have known me my entire life!

sowa saturday.

wiley wears:

dress: vintage
belt: vintage from sarka's collection
jean jacket: gap
boots: target
this saturday i went to the sowa market in the south end with jill and lin.  we had such a good time scouring the tents for vintage pieces, delicious baked goods, flowers and so much more.  i love markets and this is absolutely one of my favorites.  i found a number of beautiful vintage dresses, one of which you will see tomorrow and i also came across this gorgeous belt.  the sarka's collection tent was filled with so many fabulous pieces, both vintage and handmade.  i highly recommend stopping by her tent the next time you stop by the sowa market.  i bought this dress a few months ago at a small vintage store in portsmouth, nh.  it seemed like the perfect frock for a warm spring afternoon on the town.  i wanted to keep my outfit comfortable for walking around in the beautiful warm weather so i decided on my tan suede boots and threw on my jean jacket just in case it got cool.
thanks so much to lin for taking these photos!

5.13.2010

are we there yet?

wiley wears:

top: gap
skirt: f21
tights: uo
shoes: vintage dexters
belt: h&m
tonight was a play on an outfit i have done over and over again.  i wanted to take my beloved red tights out for one last run before the weather gets too warm and this navy and white striped top always seems to be the perfect companion.  this full-bodied denim skirt made the outfit more fun and good for an evening out with family.   not much to say tonight other than t.g.i.f!

5.12.2010

short break from nacho night.

wiley wears:

cardigan: thrifted
button-up: banana republic
jeans: bdg
belt: vintage
dexters: vintage
necklace: gift
taking a short break from my nacho night with the girls.  this is a combination of my outfit from work and my evening outfit.  i wore the top part to the office today with a pair of khakis, but i threw on a pair of jeans for the night.  this cardigan can be a bit boxy so i belted it to show my waist.  with skinny jeans on bottom and a nice pair of vintage shoes and a turquoise necklace i felt very put together and played off an all-american vibe.
sorry my friends, but off to my nacho feast.

nacho night.

yes, this deserves a three-way highfive.
nacho night with my loves.
