my fall wishlist.

i always look forward to the fall fashion season.  beyond the perfect boston weather and fun autumn activities, fall involves  lots of layering, rich colors and cozy materials.  here are a few of the pieces on my fall wish-list:
1. a versatile wool caplet, like this dvf one above, preferably with
long sleeves built in for extra warmth.
2. fun colorful scarves to brighten up my typical fall palette of
browns, greens and deep reds.
3. the perfect maroon leather bag.
4. a pair of great oxfords; perfect for the office or a night on the
town with short skirts and dresses.
5. a camel wool mini...i can picture it with tights and oxfords for a
great everday look.
6. and last, but not least, a great new pair of black frames.  i have
my eye on these oliver peoples sheldrake frames.

 what's on your fall wishlist?

the giving tree.

wiley wears:

button-up: borrowed from jeb
shorts: f21
scarf: vintage gift from jiff
flats: jeffrey campbell
so today's post is in honor of the tree in the first photo.  sadly, this beautiful tree is being taken down for no good reason at all.  the two trees behind my dear friend lin's house are being removed after a branch fell during a storm a few weeks ago.   needless to say, my favorite shady and perfectly private oasis in the heart of our fine neighborhood is being drastically changed.  we really loved those trees and the hammock they held up.  sorry arden street!
i wore this outfit out to run errands and cannot say enough amazing things about stealing jeb's shirts.  this one had been tossed aside a few weeks ago because of a small hole in the sleeve.  perfect for me, since i prefer the sleeves rolled up.  with a pair of shorts, my nude flats and a soft vintage scarf to tie back my hair i felt ready to race through the aisles of target and cruise around listening to soft-rock on the car stereo.
don't forget to enter my gorjana westerly giveaway!

i am so excited for today's giveaway!  well, excited and envious.  mostly because i am in love with this ring! this gorjana westerly ring would be the perfect everyday accessory and the elegant floral design would go with absolutely everything.
designer apparel is sponsoring my first official giveaway and i cannot say enough fabulous things about this website.  designer apparel is a search engine that carries just about every one of my favorite fashion labels, including theory, proenza schouler and even small labels like caroline rose.  it makes it really simple to search for a specific article of clothing or piece of jewelry and i am over the moon to be working with them!
to enter, leave a comment here by tuesday, august 10th at 1:00 pm telling me what accessory you never leave home without.
the winner will be randomly selected so don't forget to leave your name.

in disguise.

wiley wears:

dress: rohit gandhi-rahul khanna
cardigan: gap
shoes: vintage dexters
satchel: vintage coach
i really love how this outfit came about.  this week is my last week at my job, before my new adventure begins.  i think i have a case of 'senioritis' and that made it really difficult to get up and out of bed this morning.  i figured out the cure...disguise my favorite party dress as office wear.  originally when i bought this dress from anthropologie i saw it styled in their lookbook with a bulky wool sweater.  i loved the juxtaposition of something masculine over something so overtly feminine and thought i could pull off a similar look with a thinner boyfriend cardigan and a pair of worn oxfords.  to complete the look i just recieved this vintage coach satchel from little ocean annie. (who by the way is one totally adorable mama-to-be.)  i think my goal this week will be to brighten my days with fun thought out ensembles and keep my eyes on new beginnings.
also, on october 2nd i will be running the Samaritans' 'Run for Someone Else's Life' 5k along the charles river.  i am doing it in memory of the brother of two of my dear friends.  visit http://www.firstgiving.com/brookewiley if you want to donate towards the cause.  it will be an incredible day and i look forward to getting out there and supporting the people i love!

happy inspiration.

i recently came across this gorgeous set of street style photos from stylesightings.  not sure what it is about this girl, but i am completely smitten with her entire look.  they make me look forward to the winter time when my short bangs come back and cocktail dresses come out.  i kept going back to these images and thought it was high-time that i shared them.  i adore street style blogs and stylesightings is great for whenever i'm lacking sartorial inspiration.
happy inspiration!

lake winnipesaukee.

we had such an amazing time at the lake over the last week!  thanks for bearing with me while i unplugged.    the lake was the abosolute perfect vacation; dinner over an open fire, s'mores, bocce, fireworks and plenty of pina coladas.  i plowed through books while sunning myself on the boat and spent hours floating around in the beautiful lake.  here are a few photos from our time away.  and no, my friends, not all of the buoys have dirty messages on them.  just the one closest to our place.
