stripeday.

so jessica, over at what i wore, thought it would be great to gather together bloggers and declare tuesday the day for stripes.  (she actually mentioned breton stripes, but i loved this shirt and thought it was close enough.)   as everyone who reads this blog knows, i love stripes!  the simplest way to pull off a wearable nautical ensemble without looking too over-the-top.  this top just called to me; with it's bright red stripes and ruffled sleeves, i knew it would be a perfect layering piece.  easy to dress up or down, with a chambray skirt it was great for my day in the office.  the red in the top really made the red porcelein buttons on the skirt pop and i loved the overall look.
cheers to one more monday biting the dust!

sunday kind of love.

wiley wears:

top: patrick robinson for target
jeans: lucky
flats: jeffrey campbell
scarf: vintage
so today i thought i would go for an easy ensemble; a white button-up and my comfiest all-american jeans.    i rarely post on sundays since i typically end up in yoga pants or just stay in my pajamas, but i thought i would give a look at one of my more basic sunday looks.  i knew i needed an accessorie to brighten up this outfit and keep it from looking to 'blasee.'   as i was all dressed and ready to go i recieved a package in the mail from my sister and brother-in-law.  the were recently in san francisco and picked me up a few great vintage items.  this silk scarf was the perfect addition to my outfit.  tied in my hair, it gave my outfit a totally different vibe and also aided in keeping my hair under control in this windy weather.  thanks jenni and troy!
jeb and i spent the day with his family celebrating mother's day.  sadly, i don't get to see my own mom for a few more weeks, but nonetheless, happy mother's day mom!  i love you so much and i cannot wait for us to be together again!

i hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.
these thunderstorms today have been quite amazing and i can't help but look forward to more throughout the coming months.
a wiley wears post will come tomorrow, but for now i thought i would highlight a few of my favorite outfits from across the web this past week.
1. e's bright and colorful summer dress.
2. annie's adorable polka-dotted and print dress.
3. maria's dress that was just made for twirling.
4. christina's playful frock for some reason makes me think of hot-air balloons.  so what's better than that?
5. and finally, ellenitza's perfect pink and gray pairing.

almost there.

wily wiley:

top: marc jacobs
trousers: madewell
cardigan: gap
necklace: anthropologie
t-straps: uo
i warned you all that i would wear these pants once a week.  today i decided not to tuck in my top, to at least give a bit of a different flavor.  also, this silk top has a waist a bit higher than where the pants fall, which causes a bit of bunching when tucked in.  i love this marc jacobs top because it is so versatile and such a comfortable, yet classy, top for work.  i knew i added to add a statement piece to this outfit and love pairing this necklace and this top because of the similar color scheme.  and in an office with a whole lot of a/c happening, the cardigan is a piece that will be around all summer...even on those incredibly hot days.
happy almost-friday my loves!

this tiny pattern.

wiley wears:

dress: gap
cardigan: j.crew
belt: vintage
wedges: macy's
sometimes mixing old favorites together just makes for a perfect outfit.  i felt so all-american and girly.  my ruffled dress and ruffle-trimmed cardigan worked well together and i know this is an ensemble that will be repeated over and over again using some different colored cardigans.  the dress has a tiny navy houndstooth print that makes it  work almost as a neutral.  using patterns in grays, navys, blacks and browns as neutrals can add an array of pairings you may never have thought of.  ev  paired with any bright cardigan, vest or scarf, this dress can go from day to night or casual to dressy.  down to about a dollar a wear for me; the true sign of a phenomenal piece.  caroline, of poppy and leo, was kind enough to meet me for a little walk today and took my photos.  if you haven't been over to her blog lately, go now and enter her giveaway to win an incredible ammount of abby try again's photography!  i have my fingers and toes crossed, but i don't want to be selfish and keep it to myself.

an education.

further confirmation that i was born in the wrong decade, and quite possibly on the wrong continent.
this coming-of-age story was beautifully filmed and the costumes were to die for.
(even jenny's school uniform was adorable.)
carey mulligan is gorgeous and i definitely have a new girl-crush.
any film with shots of paris, a make-over scene, and peter sarsgaard is fine by me.

sunny side of the street.

wiley wears:

dress: free people
cardigan: j.crew
flats: jeffrey campbell
earrings: anthropologie
monday, you don't scare me.  today i proved it by pulling out some of my brightest pieces and making them work together.  this dress has been a favorite of mine for a long time.  the bright floral embroidery on top of the tiny yellow polka-dots called to me a few years ago.  i knew i needed to keep my footwear low-key, so what better than some nude eyelet flats?  i decided to wear these small yellow porcelain earrings to keep the outfit very bright and sunny.  overall an outfit that fought off those thunderstorms and nasty monday moods.
