most who know me, know about my obsession with all things jazz-age.  i love the glamour, the bobs, the dresses, etc. etc. etc.  as a devotee of f.scott and zelda fitzgerald, i never thought i would find a new 1920's muse...not until i came across an article on adele astaire in this months issue of vogue.  adele, the elder sister of fred astaire, is described as having a 'devil-may-care' attitude...something i adore in other women.  i just thought i would share something beautiful with everyone today, hope you all find her as unique and inspiring as i do.

     a tiny bit wild for another monday morning.  i love the combination of a toned-down animal print and this olive green skirt.  i am definitely not a huge fan of animal prints, but when worn subtly, i can deal.  this week will prove a special challenge for me.  both my personal and professional lives are incredibly busy and i want to stay focused on maintaining my daily style and hope to find inspiration throughout the week to keep me going.  my summer feels as though it is already piled high with trips, adventures and projects on the homefront.  my goal is to keep it all together and maintain a great balance between work and fun.  bring it on!

     i apologize for the lack of posts, but i spent a long weekend with family and stayed far away from my laptop.  here is the outfit i wore to work and out for drinks on thursday.  it was one of those days that never quite rained, but misted all day long.  i decided to go for a resort-wear look with my favorite seersucker trousers and a blousey white top.  this green rain jacket has been in my closet since middle school.  my mom is always great at picking out pieces that will be chic forever and this jacket is proof.  it always makes a rainy day better when i can grab a bright and cheerful jacket to shield myself from nasty weather.  so my friends, the moral of this story; invest in a classic rain jacket, trench and peacoat.  these are the three staples my mom embedded in my mind and she is rarely wrong.  each of these pieces are in my closet and have been there since my teenage years.

     so this is not what i wore today, but rather what i wore to see trombone shorty last night.  my most comfortable look; a flannel, jeans and moccasins.  some good ole' americana.  sometimes the most basic and simple pairings are the ones that work best.  not a whole lot to explain here wardrobe-wise, but for the record, trombone shorty's show was incredible.  so much energy and raw talent.  i had a blast and am now exhausted a day later.  i am so pumped for the weekend ahead and have lots of cleaning and preparations to take care of tonight.  but first, off to watch last night's episode of glee.  yes, my friends, i am a fully certified gleek.

     a very very quick post tonight.  jeb and i are off to see trombone shorty play at the paradise rock club.  really excited to hear some authentic new orleans funk and to dance the night away.  a very simple, but pretty dress was perfect for a cool and breezy day in the city.  as usual i wore a cardigan to make an everyday sundress ready for the office.

halfway through the week and so excited for my sister and brother-in-law to come on thursday night!

redsox vs. phillies at fenway friday night and an amazing pig roast in new hampshire saturday.  oh, please go by quickly week!

    back to the basics.  when all inspiration fails....go for the same dress you always wear!  i love this dress and do not think there are any other ways to explain my love for it that have not been said multiple times on wily wiley.  it was the perfect purchase.  oh, j.crew, you still know how to do things right.  a short post today.  a night in with a lot on my mind and lots of plans/projects/adventures i need to spend some time thinking more about.

     another round of jessica, of what i wore's blogger challenges.  this time jessica challenged bloggers from all over to wear something either overtly feminine of menswear inspired.  although probably very obvious, i choose the second option.  i have always loved menswear tailored to women.  annie hall being one of my most beloved fashion icons, i think it takes a true woman to work a look with menswear pieces.  i have long been in the company of a man who believes that a set of suspenders are the most dapper addition to any outfit.  so i snuck into his drawer and grabbed the first pair i saw.  i thought on top of a ruffled button up i could make the look masculine, without looking costumey.  with pleated trousers, wedges and my stand-out tarina tarantino cheshire cat ring, i think i worked the menswear vibe with a few touches of femininity.
